Correct spring tension is what keeps a D Series blade cutting cleanly: the tension spring presses the cutter against the comb at exactly the right force. When the spring or its holder wears, bends or breaks, the cutter starts to chatter, skip and leave lines. This genuine VUNRO assembly, with the spring already fitted to the holder, restores factory tension in one simple swap.

Compatible with VUNRO D Series blades in every size and not intended for use with A5 blades. If a blade has lost its bite but the edge is still good, this is usually the part to check first.

Fitting your replacement part

  • Remove the retention plate first: unscrew the two screws on the back of the blade and set the plate and screws aside.
  • Note which way round the old spring holder sits before lifting it out, then fit the new assembly the same way. The spring comes already fitted, there is nothing to assemble.
  • Never bend the spring arms to change the tension. The assembly is set to factory tension, which is exactly what restores a clean cut.
  • Seat the cutter so its guide slot engages the spring before refitting the retention plate, then tighten both screws evenly.
  • Check the cutter slides side to side with light, even resistance, add a drop of clipper oil, and run the blade briefly before grooming.
  • The cutter edge is sharp, so keep your fingers clear of the teeth while you work.
